Alumni of Sports Authority of India Calicut

Every champion sparks a fire. Our alumni keep it burning.

From Calicut’s playfields to the world stage, SAI Calicut has shaped athletes of discipline and passion. ASAIC is where those journeys meet again — a circle of alumni giving back, inspiring the young, and reviving the spirit of sport. SAI Calicut created champions; ASAIC unites them to guide the next generation.

The Sports Authority of India (SAI), formed in 1984 under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, was established to discover young talent, provide scientific training, and prepare athletes for the highest levels of competition. Through its centres across the country, SAI has shaped champions who have carried India’s pride onto national and international stages.

As part of this effort, the SAI Centre at Calicut was set up on 6th September 1991. It soon became one of India’s leading training centres, producing top level players in Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Football, Table tennis, Volleyball and Weightlifting and many other
sports. Many of these athletes went on to represent India and bring pride to the state.

Our Mission

We, the alumni of SAI Calicut, work together to use sport as a way to bring growth, joy, and positive change. Our mission is to train young talent, bring life back to playfields, and give back to society.

We dream of Kerala’s playgrounds once again filled with energy and excitement, where children learn teamwork and discipline, and where new athletes rise to shine on the national and international stage. By guiding the next generation and creating opportunities, we carry forward the proud legacy of SAI Calicut and keep the spirit of sport alive for future generations.
